Random Tuesday and the Stomach Flu

First off, let me start by saying I'm sick.  I picked up some awful stomach bug this weekend.  Yesterday, after seeing my OB for severe stomach pain, I was sent to labor and delivery to be put on a monitor.  Sure enough, I was having fairly often contractions due to my dehydration.  I hadn't eaten anything all day due to the fact that I can't keep any food down.  They gave me IV fluid for a few hours and sent me on my way.  The contractions have slowed down somewhat, but they are still happening much more frequently than normal.  I've been trying my hardest to stay hydrated.  I can't stand the thought of Baby G not getting the nutrients he needs, but my doctor says to not worry so much about food but instead focus on drinking LOTS of liquids.  Ugh, easier said then done.  I've never had a virus as bad as this one and of course it would come during the 8th month of my pregnancy.  Through this nasty flu there has been lots of this. . .

And can I just add that this guy is the best husband in the world. . .

Last night I got so sick that I couldn't even make it to the bathroom.  I got sick all over the floor in our bedroom (I know, like a 5 year old).  Duane was there right after to clean it up.  Not any husband would do that for his wife.  So glad I am married to my best friend and I can't wait to see him be a daddy to our baby boy.

Hope your Tuesday is looking a little brighter than mine! :)

Baby Shower #1

Yesterday I had my first baby shower!  I have been looking forward to it since my sister set the date back in November!  My sisters, mom, and aunt hosted the shower and everything was perfect.  All of the decorations were so cute!

 Here are some of the cute decorations. . .

{Jill asked everyone to bring their favorite childhood book instead of a card.  She decorated the tables with these cute daisies and printed out a nursery rhyme to go on every table.  So creative!}

32 Weeks!

Photobucket

Today I am 32 weeks!
Only TWO more months to go before Baby G is here!

Pregnancy Updates:

Baby G's size: He weighs about 4 pounds (that's about what he weighed at our last ultrasound) and is 16.7 inches long.  Poor little guy is squished inside my belly!  Where is he going to go in the next 2 months?!

My size: I've gained about 16 pounds.  I didn't gain any weight between my last two doctors visits.  I am really hungry a lot of the time but with all the extra stuff going on in my stomach..there's not much room for my actual stomach!  I eat a few bites and feel full even though I'm starving.  Such a weird feeling!

Most excited thing: LOVED the 4D ultrasound.  I can't stop looking at the pictures!  It makes me that much more anxious to hold my baby boy!

Most annoying thing: Sleeping.  I'm lucky if I get 5 hours with about 3 bathroom breaks.  I know that when Baby G is here I won't be getting much uninterrupted sleep..but at lease I'll be able to sleep WELL for a few hours at a time.  I can't wait to lay on my stomach again and to be able to lay on my back without getting lightheaded!!

Cravings: Still no weird cravings right now.

Sickness: Feeling pretty good...just really tired.  My back pain is also starting to get worse again.  Only 2 more months..I can do this!! :)

Next appointment: I go back to the doctor in a week and a half.  I think I'll have about 2 more 2 weeks appointments and then I'll start going once a week.  Oh my goodness time is flying!!

Photobucket

I had my first shower today and got lots of great things!  I just put in Baby G's first load of laundry and he has SO much stuff!!  I'll be sure to blog about the shower soon! :)

in love

I am absolutely in love with this face. . .

Photobucket

Dear Baby G,

       Today your daddy and I got to see your sweet face for the first time.  I can honestly say it is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.  At first you were stubborn (like your mama) and decided to cover your face with your hand.  Eventually you moved your little fingers and we got to see your tiny lips move and you even stuck your tongue out at us a few times.  We counted 10 little fingers and 10 little toes.  The doctor said you almost weigh 4 pounds!  You are getting SO big!  Exactly two months from tomorrow you could be making your appearance into the world.  Your daddy and I can't wait to see your cute little face in person.  We can't wait to hold you and kiss you and just spend time with you.  Believe it or not, I can't wait to hear your little cry (daddy might disagree)!  I am so glad that the doctor said you look very healthy today.  Keep growing and gaining weight these next few weeks so you can come into the world a strong and healthy baby boy.  We can't wait to meet you!  We love you so much! :)

Love,
Mama G

PS - I showed your pictures to your big furry sister, Kaia.  She acted excited and we know she will love you and protect you when you get here! :)

Grandma

Photobucket
{Grandma and Grandpa holding me almost 24 years ago:)}

My grandma passed away late last night.  She would have been 80 tomorrow.  Although my heart is very heavy, I am glad she is not in pain anymore.  Grandma had a stroke when I was in sixth grade (about 10 years ago).  Shortly after that (3 months I think) my grandpa passed away very unexpectedly.  Ever since the stroke, my grandma was a lot different.  Not necessarily in a bad way, just much different.  She wasn't as mobile and cognitively, she just was different.  She was very talkative for a few years after the stroke, but more recently she has been much less vocal.  She stopped eating a couple of weeks ago, so we knew this day was coming soon.

I am glad I was able to go to the nursing home to say goodbye to her.  I know she didn't know I was there, but I would have been really upset if I hadn't gotten to say goodbye.  I am also SO glad that I have lots of memories of my grandma before her stroke.  My mom was very close to her parents and we spent lots of time with them.  I'm so glad that we did, because I am able to keep lots of memories of my grandparents even though I had a short time to spend with them.  I wanted to blog a few of these memories so that I can have them for the rest of my life.  I can't wait to share these memories with my baby boy some day.

*One of my favorite childhood memories was going to my grandparents house to spend the night.  My cousins and sisters would all spend the night pretty often.  We would LOVE to play dress up with grandma's old clothes and jewelry.  The best part was, grandma didn't care if we wore the dress up clothes out to dinner.  We would always eat at Waffle House and to this day I still think of those sleep overs when I pass a waffle house.

*I remember lots of holiday gatherings at my grandparents house.  I specifically remember my grandma cooking for these celebrations.  She would make dinner for out whole family and it always tasted so good!  Unfortunately, I did not inherit her cookings skills. :)

*In sixth grade, I experienced my first school dance.  I don't remember what dance it was, but I remember grandma going shopping with my mom and I for the perfect outfit.  I think this memory is so special to me because shortly after this is when my grandma had her stroke.

*My grandparents lived in a neighborhood that was centered around a lake.  There was a pool and a clubhouse that we visited often.  I don't remember too man times that grandma actually swam with us, but I always remember her sitting on the side of the pool watching and laughing with us.  She always had something cold for us to drink and something yummy to snack on.

I could go on and on about memories that I have with my grandma, but the ones I listed were most important and vivid in my memory.  I am sad that my grandma will never get to hold Baby G, but am glad she's not in pain any longer.

Thanks for listening. :)

30 Weeks!

Photobucket
{Is it just me or has my belly grown a lot in the last 2 weeks?!}

Today I am 30 weeks!
Only 10-ish more weeks to go!  We are getting SO anxious and SO excited!

Pregnancy Updates:

Baby G's size: He weighs about 3 pounds (about the size of a cabbage).  He's about 15 1/2 inches long.

My size: I've gained about 16 pounds.  I gained THREE pounds between my last 2 week appointments.  I have a feeling I'll be packing on the pounds until this little guy is due!

Most excited thing: It was exciting to get the nursery started.  We have a few more things to add after our showers...and it will be complete!

Most annoying thing: Sleeping.  Ugh.

Cravings: Still no weird cravings right now.

Sickness: Feeling pretty good...just really tired.

Next appointment: I head back to the doctor on January 18.  We get our 4D ultrasound that day and we're so excited to see our son's face in a little more detail.

Thanks for reading my pregnancy updates.  I know these are probably boring to most people (except you, mom!:)) but I know in a few years I will love looking back at my updates, so you're stuck reading them! :)

Big Belly! :)

Just in case you were wondering...

Photobucket
{No worries..it's sparkling grape juice..which is the same thing I would have drank even if I wasn't pregnant!}

My belly WAS big enough to rest my champaign glass on this year on new years eve. :)

Happy Thursday.  It's almost the weekend!! :)
